Governor Carcieri Opens OceanTech Expo
Wednesday, October 1, 2008 - Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri officially opened the second annual OceanTech Expo this morning, giving brief remarks regarding the subsea technology industry’s importance to the state of Rhode Island – and the country – in the areas of subsea defense, offshore oil and gas development, and scientific endeavor.
OceanTech Expo is taking place now at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The event features an exhibition hall packed with companies showcasing the latest subsea technologies, including several “hands-on” exhibits that allow visitors to pilot remotely operated vehicles.
OceanTech Expo also features a long list of leading experts, offering visitors the opportunity to hear views on the subsea market – from executives, government officials and analysts who specialize in subsea defense, commerce and science – to learn about emerging trends and specific technology needs.
This evening, Wednesday, October 1, sponsoring publication Marine Technology Reporter will present its first annual SEAMASTER award to Thomas Chance, CEO of C&C Technologies, a pioneer in the use of AUVs in the hunt for offshore oil and gas.
