Objective Marine piping design
Work Experience 09-99 to 06-05 CDI Marine Company (Bremerton Office - Mech. Div):
Working as a Senior Engineering Technician (ET-4) in the mechanical division on the CVN-68/69/70/72/74/76 general overhaul, SSIP Sanitary and EQOL Food Service Upgrade Projects. My duties include making design modifications using AutoCad 2000/2002 to the following piping systems: Hot and cold potable water, chilled water, flushing water, grade “A” (Pure) water, service steam, plumbing drain, vent, waste lines, HP/LP air, control air, APC & Salt Water Fire Extinguishing System, mixed gases and AC Plant Installations. Fuel Oil Transfer/Stripping System on the CV67.
In addition, I was involved in product research, investigation and evaluation for the sanitary space upgrade for the CV/CVN Class Ships. Specific areas of project worked: (1) Deck and Overhead mounted steam water heaters for galley's and sanitary spaces. (2) New (PVDF) piping for the sanitary spaces. (3) Sanitary space fixture modifications.
I have performed the following design/verification ship checks for CDI Marine:
Sanitary Upgrades, General Overhaul on the CVN-68/69/70/72/74/76
Ward Room and Galley Upgrades on the CVN-68/70/72/74/76
Fuel Oil Transfer/Stripping System on the CV67
Steam Supply and Condensate on the AS-40
Sent to PSNS to write new process instructions for Shore Side Demineralized Water.
Worked for Technical Documents (CDI marine). My duties included:
(1) Writing and illustrating new ships technical manuals (SIB) using the following platforms:
(a) AutoCad
(b) Adobe Photoshop (TIFF, PCX, JPEG, PDF)
(c) Adobe Acrobat 4.0 (Converting documents to PDF format)
(d) FrameMaker 5.5
(2) Modifying existing ships technical manuals (SIB) using the above platforms.
(3) Converting existing paper drawings into an electronic database.

03-96 to 09-99 Alternative Energy Systems:
Consultant for alternative forms of energy. (Solar, Wind, Hydro, Remote and Back Up Power Systems) Responsible for providing on site evaluation, development of system designs, drawings, tests and reports. Research and development to provide computer and internet resources. Provided on site technical help to installing contractor. During this time I authored a WEB educational course on alternative energy that is soon to be put into commercial publication.
07-79 to 03-96 Puget Sound Naval Shipyard:
Fully qualified nuclear pipefitter that included CD29 and steam generator cleaning. Certified radioactive wastewater processing/evaporation operator. Certified RW Operator. Fully qualified A2W, D2G, S5W reactor plant worker. Certified pure water, controlled pure water and demineralized water operator. Have worked the following systems: Pure Water, DI water, Nuclear CD systems, potable water, LP/HP air, HP/LP steam/condensate, flushing & firemain, drains, CHT, Helium, lube oil, JP5, CVP, O2/N2, AFFF, chill water and CO2 on both subs and surface ships.
Planning /Estimating and Design: Responsible for making engineering investigations that included shipchecks to obtain data used in the development of drawings, reports and test procedures. Reviewed and evaluated piping components and equipment for workability, performance and cost effectiveness. I was detailed as an on site representative (LOH) and have been trained as a contract representative for the US Government.
In addition, I was assigned to the CVN-65 SIB Plate project. I was tasked with verification, implementing changes to data and drawings and then re-issuing to the ship. This project took approximately 1 year.

02-76 to 07-79 Marine Power and Equipment:
Worked as a pipefitter foreman. Responsible for layout, installation and testing of the piping systems on the Kitsap Class ferry boats. Supervised a crew of no less than 10 pipefitters. Developed a method of installing pre-fab sections of 4"pipe (80' long) in a completed hull.
Worked as project superintendent to retrofit a steam plant by removing and replacing LP steam supply and vacuum condensate lines. Supply lines were ½" to 12" and condensate lines were ½" to 4". One of my duties required me to propose the on site design modifications and send them to the project engineer for approval prior to doing the work. At total of 87 design modifications were done. The project was completed 33 days early and under budget.
